Waterfalls
This part of the park is home to the iconic Jim Jim Falls
and Twin Falls. These spectacular waterfalls are best seen by
air during the tropical summer, when heavy rains send huge volumes
of water crashing into the gorge below. During the dry season,
you can hike over boulders to the base of the falls. Walks Immerse
yourself in rugged natural surroundings as you navigate challenging
walking tracks to the Arnhem Land Plateau. Jim Jim Falls features
a 2 km return walk through monsoon forest and over boulders to
a deep plunge pool or family-friendly beach pool. The waterfall
flows from the start of the tropical summer until mid-July. Twin
Falls Gorge is accessed by a shuttle boat, a walking track over
boulders and sand, and a boardwalk. From the boat you’ll see countless
fish species, long-necked turtles and maybe even the elusive pig-nosed
turtle (warradjan). Camping Spend the night at the nearby Garnamarr
Campground, which has great views of the Arnhem Land Escarpment.
Tours The area can be accessed on a guided tour with friendly,
experienced guides. The

Jim Jim Falls and Gorge
In Kakadu most waterfalls such as Jim Jim Falls and Jim
Jim Gorge (accessed via a difficult 4WD track), where it cascades
more than 200m straight off the edge of the escarpment. Best time
to visit is during the early dry season (around very late June)
as soon as the road reopens. The Falls often stop flowing later
in the season and will certainly look less impressive but the
hike into Jim Jim Gorge and swim in the rock pool is worth the
trip.
Twin Falls a 4wd experience to remember
Twin Falls opens usually beginning of July or even some times
late June (accessed via a difficult 4WD track), and the other
falls earlier such as Graveside Gorge (accessed via a difficult
4WD track), Maguk Falls and Gorge (4WD track) and Gunlom Waterfall
and Rock pool (4WD track) and Koolpin Gorge (accessed via a difficult
4WD track). Some smaller rock holes and waterfalls are year round
such as Gubara Pools Walk and Motorcar Falls and Moline Rockhole
all accessed by a (4WD track) .
Indulge your sense of adventure in the Jim Jim region, home to
towering stone escarpments and mighty waterfalls. This is a special
place to connect with an ancient land and its Indigenous culture.
Take your time to experience the peace and serenity of this remarkable
landscape.
