Type of camping: Bush campsite
This is the only secluded coastal beach camping area in Kakadu. Although suited to those with a real spirit of adventure who enjoy out of the way places it is mainly used by locals for fishing and is rarely visited by travellers. The turn-off to West Alligator Head is 2 km from the entry station. An 80 km 4WD track through the savanna woodlands brings you to the campground.
There are basic facilities at Pococks Beach but no defined camping areas at Pococks Beach Middle Beach or Jungle Camp.
There is no boat ramp but boats can be launched from the beach.
You should note the tidal flat extends out 1.2 km.
Driving on the beaches is prohibited.
The beach is an important nesting ground for flatback turtles, which nest for nine months of the year.
