Thank you for your understanding.
This picturesque waterfall is one of the finest in Kakadu, and one of the most popular. Its cascading waters and pristine plunge pools attract people looking for a refreshing dip (or just some spectacular photographs). From the sandy beach and large clear pool at the base, a short, steep walk takes you to a series of smaller rocky pools stretching up into the escarpment. Gunlom is a must-see and a highlight of everyone’s Kakadu bucket list.
A steep lookout walk leads to rock pools and views of the southern hills and ridges. The flat, easy walk to Murrill Billabong is great for bird watching, as is the short walk to the main pool below the seasonal waterfall. There is a grassed, shady picnic area and camping facilities include solar-powered hot showers.

Gunlom Campground
Type of camping: Managed campsite
Situated near some of Kakadu’s most famous plunge pools, Gunlom
Campground is a popular location for a cool dip on a hot day.
Campground facilities provide for a comfortable stay and each
morning you’ll wake to the call of lorikeets, honey eaters, galahs
and kookaburras. Just minutes from the lower plunge pool and waterfall,
a short hike of about 450 m takes you above the falls where one
of nature’s most spectacular infinity pools offers breathtaking
views of southern Kakadu. If you’re up bright and early, try the
2.5 km return walk leading to Murrill Billabong and the South
Alligator River.
